Sharon Allen has lived in Alaska since 1975 and spent most of her early years in Fairbanks where she owned her own business and was very active in the community. She served on the University of Alaska Board of Trustees and also served as President of the College of Fellows. She also recently served on the Fine Arts Advisory Council for Mat-Su College.

Sharon graduated from Minnesota Art Schools where she is the 93rd recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Award. She also attended MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She has taken multiple classes and workshops from many notable artists. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society at Mat-Su College, University of Alaska, and is also a Signature Member of Alaska Watercolor Society.

After Sharon created her favorite piece titled "Why the Team Wins" for the Iditarod, the painting was juried into Alaska Watercolor Society Show in 2008 to hang in the Rasmuson Museum of History and Art in Anchorage. It was a national show and her piece was selected from many hundreds of entries. Sharon also had the privilege to create the fanciful poster for the 2010 Alaska State Fair. In 2019 Sharon had the honor of placing first with her painting "Dream Team" in the 40th annual "Art on the Lake" juried spring show in Lake Havasu.
