Artist Biography

Karen lives in Lake Havasu, with her husband Jerry, in the winters and in the summers they live on their ranch in Montana.

She started working with Gourd Art about 25 years ago when a woman came into her gift boutique and asked if she could sell her beautiful art in the store. One look and she was hooked and has not stopped gourding since. She took many classes from Pamala Redhawk, a very wonderful gourd artist.

Karen’s always enjoyed doing different kinds of art but Gourd Art seems to be what she enjoys the best. She draws and transfers scenery and pictures onto the gourds and then burns it in with a very fine wood burning tool. Then it can be painted or left natural.

She finds she’s learning new techniques every day and loves making up her own. She’s working now on learning more about doing portraits onto the gourds

Karen gives classes to many ladies in Montana who enjoy Gourd Art as much as she does.
